Taufiq Ismail, a poet of âââ¬Ã
âTuhan Sembilan Senti (Nine Centimeters God) âââ¬Ã launched his book, âââ¬Ã
âMengakar ke Bumi Menggapai ke Langit (Rooted to Earth, Catch the Sky)âââ¬ÃÂ, Wednesday (5/14), in the Constitutional Court (Mahkamah Konstitusi (MK)) Hall. The launching of the book which consist of Taufiq s creature since 1953 to 2008 and filed to four volumes was attended by the Chief Justice of MK, Jimly Asshiddiqie, the Justices of MK, A.M. Fatwa, Akbar Tanjung, Moerdiono, Hendro Priyono, Tarmizi Taher, Joop Ave, and other guesses who were Indonesian literary man, cultural elite, and the lovers of literature and culture.
On his response, Jimly Asshiddiqie expressed how literature and culture were nearly related to judicial concept. Civilization could not be grown up in an unfair social structure. âââ¬Ã
âSo that, Indonesian constitution set it,âââ¬Ã he stated.
Anis Baswedan who brought a cultural speech also mentioned social fairness for all Indonesian citizens that would be so hard to get if there were a huge gap in the structure. âââ¬Ã
âThrough his poetry, Taufik Ismail sharply capture the national situation. There are a lot poetry of him which are a wake up call, to wake us up to see Indonesia in a future perspective,âââ¬Ã stated the dean of Paramadina University.
In the same opportunity, the Vice Chief Justice of MK, Laica Marzuki read the poetry made by Taufiq Ismail. Bimbo also sang some songs which their lyrics were created by the poet who has been active for 55 years in Indonesian literature.
