Government will choose the new justices to replace the position of Constitutional Court Justices who would end their woking period. The candidates for the new Constitutional Justice was expected to understand Human Rights.
This motion was told by "Aliansi Masyarakat untuk Mahkamah Konstitusi (AMUK MK)" after their meeting with a member of Presidential Consideration Council Adnan Buyung Nasution in his office Veteran III St., Central Jakarta, Tuesday (4/8/2008).
"The Justices should have a Human Rights perspective," a member of AMUK MK, Firmansyah Arifin said.
He saw,there were many Verdict of the Constitutional Court related to Human Rights Aspects, for example Verdict of the Constitutional Court on death penalty which should be well-understood by the Human Rights side.
AMUK MK also advised the Government to notice woman representation on the Constitutional Court Justices selection.
"We suggest Government to give a room for the woman," the Head of National Law Reformation Consortium said.
Firmansyah advised the selection process to be conducted transparently, participative, and easy to know by the public."There should be an obvious parameter to estimate the worthiness of the candidates.Next, from the Presidential Consideration Council information there will be 6 candidates, and then only 3 people will be choosen by the President," he described.
