All things related to individual constitutional rights of Indonesian citizens, Union of cutural law community, public or private legal body and State institutions, especially the results of implementation of legal products could be filed for a petition to the Constitutional Court when it was considered against the 1945 Constitution of The Republic of Indonesia (UUD 1945).  

That was the explanation from the Chief of The Constitution Court, Prof. Dr. Jimly Asshiddiqie, S.H. when giving a speech on A Discussion on: “Background, Process, and Results of The Amendment of the 1945 Constitution and The Constitution Court in the Governmental System of The Republic of Indonesia” in Magelang Muhammadiyah University (UMM), Sunday (16/12).

Moreover Jimly said, The Constitution Court as an independent holder of justicial power has the authority to exercise an Act towards the Constitution, Settle the dispute over States bodies whose authorities are given by the Constitution, declare the dismissal of a political party, settle the dispute over the result of the general election. ”Lastly, The Constitution Court must give a decision on Parliament’s opinion on the suspicion of President’s or Vice President’s treason according to the Constitution,” he explained in front of participants consisted of Regency/City Government Officers, Member of Regional Parliament, Lecturers of constitution law/State Administration Law, and Teachers of Citizenship Education in Magelang City.

Jimly also pointed out that The Constitution Court had nine Constitution Justice who were legalised by the President and proposed three people each by the Supreme Court, three people by the Parliament and three people by the President with five years period of service and could be reelected for one more period.

In the effort of building constitutional awareness culture for all citizens, besides giving speech on the discussion forum in UMM, The Chief of The Constitution Court also gave a visit to Islamic Religious Boarding School Daarus Salam in Watu Congol, Muntilan, and building a good relationship with Salaffiah Kaffah Islamic Boarding School Caretakers Union (Persatuan Pengasuh Pondok Pesantren Salaffiah Kaffah (P4SK)) in Tegal Rejo, Magelang Regency, also the Islamic Boarding Schools in Kedu ex-residency.
