Court Approves Withdrawal of Dedy-Dewi’s Petition on Bengkulu City Mayor Election

JAKARTA (MKRI) The Constitutional Court (MK) granted the withdrawal of petition No. 102/PHPU.WAKO-XXIII/2025 concerning the dispute over the 2024 Bengkulu mayor election results, filed by the Candidate Pair Number 3 Dedy Ermansyah and Nuragiyanti Dewi. This was pronounced at the ruling hearing on Tuesday, February 4, 2025 in the plenary courtroom.

“[The Court] grants the Petitioners’ request to withdraw the petition,” said Chief Justice Suhartoyo alongside the other eight constitutional justices. The Court stated that the Petitioners could not refile the a quo petition. The Court also ordered the Registrar’s Office to return the petition copies to the Petitioners.

Dedy-Dewi withdrew the petition for the dispute over the 2024 Bengkulu mayor election results and did not attend the preliminary hearing on Wednesday, January 8, 2025. In their petition, Dedy-Dewi accused the incumbent candidate of using the regional budget funds to win the 2024 Bengkulu mayoral election. According to the Petitioners, each department was instructed to conduct fundraising to win Candidate Pair Number 5 Dedy-Ronny.

In their petitums, the Petitioners requested the Court to annul the Bengkulu City KPU (General Elections Commission) Decree No. 478 of 2024 on the certification of the 2024 Bengkulu mayoral election results dated September 22, 2024; to declare the Petitioners as the winner; to order the KPU as Respondent to disqualify Candidate Pair Dedy Wahyudi-Ronny Tobing; and to order the KPU to hold a revote across the city.
