JAKARTA, MKRI – Pasia Laweh Constitutional Village, a village mentored by the Constitutional Court (MK), representing four other Constitutional Villages, has been honored by the Ministry of Home Affairs (KEMENDAGRI) as a National Level Outstanding Village. This recognition was awarded for its active participation in the 2025 National Village Day Commemoration. The award was presented directly by the Minister of Home Affairs, Tito Karnavian, during an event themed “Planting Movement for Food Security in the Village (Gema Tandan Desa),” held in Cibeureum Kulon Village, Cimalaka, Sumedang, West Java, on Wednesday, January 15, 2025.
“Earlier, the village heads who came forward were all recognized as achievers based on their assessments, demonstrating their ability to develop their villages. It is certainly beneficial to learn from these advanced villages,” said Minister Tito in his remarks.
On this occasion, the Wali Nagari of Pasia Laweh, Zul Arfin Dt. Parpatiah, was appointed to lead the reading of the Village Government's Statement of Commitment to Strengthening Food Security in Indonesia. “Promoting the strengthening of village food security programs to achieve national food self-sufficiency,” read one of the pledges delivered under Zul Arfin's guidance.
For context, the Constitution Village initiative is part of the Constitutional Court's program, reflecting its commitment to supporting government efforts and fostering a culture of constitutional awareness. This program aims to enhance understanding of the Constitution and the Constitutional Court's role in society. In addition to Nagari Pasia Laweh in Agam Regency, West Sumatra, several other Constitutional Villages were recognized: Galesong Village in Takalar Regency, South Sulawesi; Bangbang Village in Bangli Regency, Bali; Wasur Village in Merauke Regency, South Papua; and Mekar Sari Village in Kubu Raya Regency, West Kalimantan. These villages, along with 258 others, received awards. As part of its contribution, the Constitutional Court also distributed the Pocket Guide to the 1945 Constitution and the Pocket Guide to Citizens' Constitutional Rights to participants at the National Village Day Commemoration.
On the previous day, in the culmination of the National Village Day Commemoration, The event held a Sabisa Symposium, “All Talk Village”, where they presented several speakers, including Philosophy Expert Rocky Gerung. The Constitutional Court is one of the institutions that received an invitation from KEMENDAGRI to be able to send representatives of assisted villages to the 2025 National Village Day Commemoration.
The commemoration of Village Day serves as a significant moment to reinforce the role of villages in fostering community understanding and engaging stakeholders. It aims to position villages as key drivers of development, community empowerment, regional growth, and cultural preservation, while also highlighting their progress and achievements. The representatives of the Constitutional Villages expressed their gratitude and deep appreciation to the Constitutional Court for its continued support and recognition of the Constitutional Villages. This attention has elevated their status and ensured their existence is acknowledged at the national level.
