JAKARTA, MKRI – The candidate pair number 1 in the North Gorontalo regent election, Roni Imran-Ramdhan Mapaliey (ROMANTIS), has applied as a Related Party at the Constitutional Court (MK). They were accompanied by their legal counsel, Pangeran Tampubolon.
The ROMANTIS candidate pair became Related Parties in two cases. The first is case number 55/PHPU.BUP-XXIII/2025, filed by candidate pair number 2 of the North Gorontalo Regent Election, Thariq Modanggu-Nurjanah Hasan Yusuf. The second is case number 56/PHPU.BUP-XXIII/2025, filed by Ridwan Yasin-Muksin Badar.
“We believe and are confident that this will be dismissed, and we hope so. The difference is very significant, approximately 16 percent,” said Roni in the Hall of the Constitutional Court, Jakarta, on Monday (1/6/2025).
Although Roni is confident in facing the Regent Election Results Dispute (PHP Bup), he expressed appreciation for the petitions submitted by candidate pairs number 2 and 3. According to him, the petition filed by his political opponents is a part of the democratic system and a legitimate effort within the available legal framework.
“This is a democratic space that must be utilized by our fellow candidates who are not fully satisfied with the results. Yes, we will, InsyaAllah, be able to address the arguments they present effectively,” said Roni.
Meanwhile, the ROMANTIS candidate's legal counsel, Pangeran Tampubolon, acknowledged the efforts made by the two other candidate pairs in the North Gorontalo Pilbup. However, he also pointed out that the petitions filed by Thariq-Nurjanah and Ridwan-Muksin were not related to the ROMANTIS pair, as they had already been validated by the North Gorontalo General Election Commission (KPU).
“The points of the petition are also not related to the vote difference. One of the petitions even disputes the election of the candidate, claiming that the non-elected candidate should be disqualified,” said Pangeran.
“Hopefully, we will be accepted as related parties, which is the first step. Then, we request that this be resolved in the third hearing with a dismissal,” he added.
For your information, Case Number 55/PHPU.BUP-XXIII/2025, filed by Thariq-Nurjanah, presents two arguments in its petition. The first argument claims that Ridwan, candidate number 3 for North Gorontalo regent, still has a criminal record. The second argument asserts that Roni does not possess a high school diploma.
Meanwhile, the second case, filed by Ridwan-Muksin, is registered as Case Number 56/PHPU.BUP-XXIII/2025. In the main petition, the petitioner strongly opposed the results of the vote recapitulation for the North Gorontalo Regent Election. According to the petitioner, the process of nominating candidates for regent and deputy regent was conducted unconstitutionally throughout the entire implementation process. (*)
