JAKARTA, MKRI – The Indonesian Law Association of Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University visited the Constitutional Court (MK) on Thursday (11/7/2024). This visit was warmly welcomed by the Expert Assistant to  Constitutional Justices, Suryo Gilang Romadlon, in the Delegation Room, Building I of the Court.

In his presentation, Gilang explained that the Court as a state institution has a main function that focuses on judicial review or reviewing of laws. "The Constitutional Court has several authorities, and the first is related to judicial review," he said.

In addition, the Court has the authority to decide disputes over the authority of state institutions whose authority is granted by the Constitution; decide on the dissolution of political parties; and deciding disputes about the results of general elections (elections). The Court then received additional authority to decide disputes regarding the results of regional head elections (pilkada) because the regional head elections were included in the general election regime.

Gilang added that the laws that can be reviwed at the Court are very diverse and are not limited to laws related to government, politics, political parties or elections. Since its establishment, the Court has examined various laws in various fields. Therefore, Gilang said that a visit to the Court was the right opportunity for students to learn various aspects of law, including civil and criminal law, because many cases in this field had been reviewed and decided by the Court.

Gilang said that the constitution covers all aspects of state life, including human relations, and is one of the advantages of the Indonesian constitution. (*)
