JAKARTA, MKRI Public Relations - Officials and employees of the Constitutional Court (MK) attended the 96th Youth Pledge Day ceremony on Monday (10/28/2024) morning, in front of the Court Building 2. Head of the General Bureau, Budi Wijayanto, acting as Inspector of Ceremonies, delivered remarks from the Minister of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Indonesia, Ario Bimo Nandito Ariotedjo, with the theme "Moving Forward with Greater Indonesia".

In his speech, Budi said that currently the Indonesian nation is commemorating an important event in the history of Indonesian nationality, namely the 1928 Youth Pledge Event. An event where Indonesian youth expressed their determination and strong will to unite amidst the reality of diversity to create the Indonesian state.

Budi further said that the great values displayed by the 1928 Youth Pledge generation must always be delivered many times at all times to strengthen the awareness and character of the Indonesian nation, in facing various very rapid changes in situations and conditions, which can create strength, the nation was degraded to the point of weakening the strength of the Indonesian nation to maintain the sustainable existence of the Indonesian nation.

"Youth Month and the Commemoration of Youth Pledge Day 2024 coincide with the transition period for the new government which will orchestrate the steps of the Indonesian nation to realize medium-term development targets as the basis for achieving the long-term development target of 2045, namely the realization of a Golden Indonesia which is characterized by increasingly high progress and prosperity, as well as the stronger progress of the Indonesian nation in the global arena," he stressed.

Budi said, this momentum is an opportunity for the Indonesian people to pay greater attention to youth development agendas as an important part of Indonesia's development, both in the position of youth as subjects of development and as objects of development. As subjects of development, some Indonesian youth have the ability to actively participate in various national development sectors, even in the United Nations' SGDs (Sustainable Development Goals) agenda, which is a global agenda. On the other hand, Indonesian youth still need empowerment services to develop their hidden potential so that this potential becomes strength in leadership, pioneering and entrepreneurship.

The Role of Youth in National Development

In his remarks, the Minister of Youth and Sports also hoped that youth would play a greater role in Indonesia's national development, because in essence youth are the owners of the future. The results of achieving this can be found from the achievements of the Youth Development Index or IPP. As an indicator of youth quality in 2024, the Youth Development Index will be at 56.33 percent, with details of achievement in the Education domain at 70.00 percent, the health and welfare domain at 65.00 percent, the gender and discrimination domain at 53.33 percent. Meanwhile, the field and job opportunities domain was 45.00 and the participation and leadership domain was 43.33 percent.

IPP's achievements need to be increased by making efforts to develop the potential and excellence of youth on a large scale and massively throughout Indonesia. All stakeholders from government, society, the industrial world, universities and the media must move in a synergistic, integrated and holistic manner so that an innovative youth service ecosystem is built that supports the growth and development of advanced youth, with national character and competitiveness.

"Therefore, it is truly appropriate that the momentum for commemorating Youth Pledge Day in 2024 carries the theme of Moving Forward Together with Greater Indonesia. This theme delivers a message to all of us, to improve and advance various elements of youth services until we reach the condition of a great Indonesia, a incredible Indonesia, a prosperous Indonesia. "This effort is carried out in the form of joint, simultaneous, synchronous and well-coordinated advancement efforts both at the central and regional levels," said Budi when reading the Minister of Youth and Sports' remarks.
