The Court’s employees Fithatue and Sri Haryanti attending the 12th Summer School of the AACC organized by the Constitutional Court of Turkiye from September 30 to October 3, 2024.
Ankara, MKRI – The robust development of technology, especially in artificial intelligence (AI), has become the main focus of the judiciary nowadays. This topic was thoroughly discussed during the 12th Summer School of the Association of Asian Constitutional Courts and Equivalent Institutions hosted by the Constitutional Court of Turkiye in its capacity as the Center for Training and Human Resources Development (CTHRD of the AACC) in Ankara, Turkiye. The short course was organized under the theme “The Use of Information Technologies and Artificial Intelligence in the Higher Judiciary”. The Summer School ran from September 30 until October 3, 2024. Participants of the event had the chance to discuss, present, and exchange information and experience on the use of technology in the judiciary globally.
This event was participated by representatives from 28 constitutional courts and equivalent institutions, including two Indonesian Constitutional Court employees. Both of the attended the discussion on the lates development and challenges in the use of information technology and AI in the judiciary. Participants also came from Turkey, Korea, Azerbaijan, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Malaysia, Maldives, Mongolia, Russia, Tajikistan, Thailand, and Uzbekistan – which are members of the AACC, as well as other countries, namely Georgia, Ukraine, Algeria, and Zimbabwe. Each of the representatives presented innovation related to the implementation of technology in their respective countries.
During the Summer School's opening, Basri Bagci, Vice President of the Turkish Constitutional Court, emphasized the importance of using AI to create a modern and efficient judicial system. According to Bagci, AI may also widen the community’s access to justice, accelerate the legal process, and ensure transparency in decision-making.
Among the highlights during the discussion and presentation session was a presentation from Turkiye on the use of the UYAP system, which is used by all Turkish courts. Meanwhile, participants from Indonesia presented the success of the Electronic Case Information System (Sistem Informasi Perkara Elektronik, SIMPEL) and the plan to develop an Interactive Judiciary Dashboard by using AI to conduct a thorough legal analysis.
