JAKARTA, MKRI – The Constitutional Court (MK) conducted a hearing on the 2024 Legislative Election Results Disputes (PHPU) for Case Number 287-01-04-04/PHPU.DPR-DPRD-XXII/2024 concerning the Rokan Hulu 3 in Riau Province. The hearing took place on Friday, August 9, 2024, in the Courtroom of Court. This petition was submitted by the Golongan Karya Party (Golkar Party). The hearing follows the Constitutional Court's decision dated June 6, 2024, which mandated that a re-voting (PSU) be conducted at several polling stations within the Rokan Hulu 3 in Riau Province.

In a hearing led by Constitutional Court Chief Justice Suhartoyo, Mukmin, representing the Petitioner, stated that the Respondent (KPU/General Elections Commission) failed to carry out the Re-voting (PSU) at 31 polling stations in North Tambusai Village, North Tambusai District, Rokan Hulu Regency. The Petitioner argued that the KPU did not implement Constitutional Court Decision Number 247-01-04-04/PHPU.DPR-DPRD-XXII/2024 as required.

“The Respondent did not verify the Final Voters List (DPT) before updating the data in Tambusai Utara Village, Tambusai Utara Subdistrict, Rokan Hulu Regency, for the votes of candidates for the Riau Provincial House of Representatives in Riau Election District 3,” said Mukmin during the session at  Plenary Courtroom.

The Petitioner argues that the KPU failed to involve them in the data updating process and did not request their input or verify the Final Voters List (DPT). The Petitioner stated that, during the preparation of the New Voters List, both the Election Supervisor, legislative candidates, and their campaign teams should have had the right to provide feedback and responses following the data updating.

In addition, Mukmin continued, the Respondent, including the Organizing Parties (PPS, PPK, and KPU Rokan Hulu Regency), should have coordinated effectively with the Police to ensure security during the Re-Voting Election. They were also expected to adhere to and implement the Court's decision and the instructions from KPU RI.
