BOGOR (MKRI) — Head of the Program and Implementation Department of the Pancasila and Constitution Education Center (Pusdik) Nanang Subekti officially closed the workshop on the procedural law for the 2024 General Election Results Dispute (PHPU) for KPU (General Elections Commission) Batch I on Thursday, September 7, 2023 at the Grha 3 Hall of the Center in Cisarua, Bogor, West Java Province.
In his closing remarks, he said law enforcement is carried out by law enforcement agencies such as the Police, the Supreme Court, and also the Constitutional Court. However, all Indonesian citizens are also law enforcers.
“It means as Indonesian citizens, in addition to organizing elections and enforcing the law, KPU members also enforce constitutional law” he said.
Nanang expressed his hope to meet the participants of the workshop in other workshops or events related to the Court’s authority should the KPU deems it necessary. He informed them that next year the Court will organize workshops on the regional election.
“Next year, there will be a narrow window between election of the legislature, the president, and the regional heads, but we also hold workshops relating to disputes over the election of regional heads. We have 3 months left for Mr. Andi [Krisna] to invite KPU to the workshop for the 2024 regional election results disputes,” he said.
Concluding his remarks, Nanang hoped this workshop will be beneficial for all of the participants. “Once more, please forgive us for any mistakes and I hope the knowledge we gave will be beneficial for you and our state and nation. Alhamdulillah, I officially closed the workshop for KPU Batch I,” he concluded.
Previously, head of the KPU’s Legal Advocacy and Dispute Resolution Bureau Andi Krisna expressed his gratitude to the Constitutional Court that had organized the workshop well. “On behalf of the KPU commissioners, I would like to thank Mr. Nanang and the Constitutional Court team, the speakers, the deputy registrars, and the constitutional justice for having given us insights for four days. It is indeed crucial learning for us KPU members,” he said.
Andi also hoped the knowledge obtained from this workshop could add new insights for the participants. “Hopefully what has been given by the Court can add new insights. I also remind you that the KPU Decision No. 528 is almost the same as the Court decision on procedural law, so the provincial KPU has had a basis for the [investigation report/BAP] processing after the certification of the national election results,” he said.
Eighty members of the KPU attended the PHPU workshop as participants. It lasted for four days, from Monday to Thursday, September 4-7, 2023.
