Mahfud MD received a souvenir from Chut Cholavorn, Chairman of Constitutional Court Thailand, at bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the International Symposium On Constitutional Democratic State, on Monday (11 / 7), at Shangri-La Hotel, Jakarta.

Chairman of Constitutional Court of the Republic of Indonesia (MKRI) Moh.Mahfud MD receives courtesy call from the Chairman of the Constitutional Court of Thailand Chut Cholavorn on Monday (11 / 7), at Shangri-La Hotel, Jakarta on the sidelines of International Symposium entitled " Constitutional Democratic State",

Cholavorn express his gratitude for a warm welcome from MKRI for the second time against the Constitutional Court of Thailand. "We feel that the Constitutional Court of Thailand with Indonesia are like brothers because of the similarity in many respects, such as common family, tradition, culture, and food," Cholavorn explained.

On that occasion, Mahfud who was accompanied by Secretary-General MKRI Janedjri M. Gaffar inquire about Thailand's Constitutional Court the authority to dismiss a prime minister. "We were impressed with Thailand, despite the post-election political situation, state officials can still make a visit. I am also interested in Thailand's Constitutional Court to dismiss the prime minister. Does the prime minister's dismissal by the Constitutional Court of Thailand is indeed regulated in Thailand constitution or just by ordinary legislation? " Mahfud asked.

Cholavorn claimed the decision is loaded with conflicts of interest. In September 2008, Thailand's Constitutional Court issued a decision to dismiss Prime Minister Samak Sundaravej because he became a cooking show host. "Decision of the Constitutional Court is filled with politically charged and conflicts of interest to look for loopholes in the constitution to dismiss the prime minister at the time," he explained.

In response, Mahfud called the dispute of election results as a problem for MKRI."Whether the Constitutional Court of Thailand also has the authority to hear dispute over election results?" Mahfud asked.

Later, the Court explained Cholavorn Thailand has no such authority. The authority of the Constitutional Court of Thailand is reviewing the law of the judge."The authority to dispute the results of elections conducted by the Supreme Court.Thailand's Constitutional Court only has the authority to review the laws made by Parliament, "he said.
