Get Together between the Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court and the Leaders of State Institutions

Meeting between the leaders of state institutions, Monday (18/10) at the DPR/MPR building, Jakarta. Jakarta, MKOnline – The Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court, Mahfud MD attended   a get together between state institutions on Monday (18/10) afternoon at the People’s Consultative Assembly/People’s Legislative Assembly building, Jakarta. This was the third meeting between the leaders of state institutions as they have held a similar meeting several times in, among others Istana Bogor.

Present at the event was, President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, Vice President Boediono, the Speaker of the People's Consultative Assembly, Taufiq Kiemas, the Speaker of the People’s Legislative Assembly, Marzuki Alie, the Chairperson of the Regional Representative Council, Irman Gusman and the Chairperson of the State Audit Board, Hadi Poernomo. Also present was the ministers of the 2nd United Indonesia Cabinet, among others, the Coordinating Minister for People’s Welfare. Agung Laksono, the Coordinating Minister for Economy, Hatta Radjasa and the Minister of State Secretary, Sudi Silalahi, etc. 

As we all know that the event is a regular meeting between the leaders of state institutions without any specific agenda or discussions held at the meeting. The agenda of discussion in the meeting always emphasizes on the four pillars in state life, namely the 1945 Constitution, Pancasila, the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia and Bhinneka Tunggal Ika (Unity in Diversity). 

“In the actualization of these four pillars, continuous enforcement of the presidential system as well as enforcement of the decentralization system and regional autonomy are necessary,” said the Speaker of the People's Consultative Assembly, Taufiq Kiemas at the press conference held after the get together between the leaders of state institutions.

Kiemas continued that such matters are necessary to address the challenge in strengthening Indonesia’s democracy with regard to among others, the stabilization of political system and the regional head elections system in order to produce good regional leaders. In addition to that, the principles of justice and legal certainty as well as law enforcement efforts are also necessary for implementation in the legal sector. (Nano Tresna A.)
