DIAN SASTRO, RIRI RIZA, ON BEHALF OF THE INDONESIAN MOVIE COMMUNITY FILE A PETITION FOR JUDICIAL REVIEW TO THE CONSTITUTIONAL COURT (MK)
Dian Sastro, Riri Riza, Lalu Rois Amriradhiani, Tino Saroengallo Cs joined in the Indonesian Movie Community filed a petition for judicial review of Law No.8 of 1992 regarding Film Production (Film Production Law) to the Constitutional Court on Wednesday, November 14, 2007.
Dian Sastro Cs of the Indonesian Movie Community stated that Article 1 Sub-article 4, Chapter V Articles 33 and 34, 40 and 41 Paragraph (1) Sub-paragraph b of the Film Production Law to the extent pertaining to provisions on Censorship are contradictory to the 1945 Constitution.
According to Riri Riza, the Film Production Law being the foundation and legal basis for the regulation of film production does not accommodate their needs as film production actors, the law does not even provide protection and legal guarantee for their activities in communicating, arts, culture and industrial economy. On that occasion, Dian Sastro added that the putting into effect of the Film Production Law has violated their constitutional rights as Indonesian Citizens as guaranteed by the 1945 Constitution particularly Article 28 Sub-article f, namely rights to communicate and obtain information through any and all available channels.
