THE INAUGURATION OF CIVIL SERVANTS OF THE CONSTITUTIONAL COURT OF THE REPUBLIC OF INDONESIA

For the first time, the Constitutional Court (MK) inaugurated the candidates for civil servants (CPNS) to be the Civil Servants within the Secretariat General and the Registrar’s Office of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Indonesia (MKRI) (11/5).

84 candidates were directly inaugurated by the Secretary General of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Indonesia (MKRI) Janedjri M. Gaffar in the presence of the Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court Prof. Dr. Jimly Asshiddiqie, S.H., the Deputy Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court Prof. Dr. M. Laica Marzuki S.H., and other Constitutional Court Justices as well as the Registrar of the Constitutional Court Drs. H. Ahmad Fadlil Sumadi, S.H., M.Hum

In his speech after the Secretary General of the Constitutional Court presided over as witnesses the taking of oath, the Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court Jimly Asshiddiqie said that the civil servants inaugurated today will play an important role in the future in building the professional and strong foundation for the Constitutional Court’s performance. “Starting today, the civil servants have bigger responsibilities than regular citizens,” he explained.

As example, Jimly mentioned that as regular citizens, every person is free to express his opinion, however, after being inaugurated to assume a particular position, the freedom starts to be subject to limitations. “Before assuming a particular position, the status of civil servant is already a position with different rights and obligations from those of the regular citizens, “he added.

Jimly said that ideally the Constitutional Court only need to have not more than 200 employees. All of them are expected to become of qualified employees. With regard to the educational level, Jimly expected that all of the Constitutional Court’s employees will have at least undergraduate degree. “If all of the Constitutional Court’s employees were of high quality, then the Constitutional Court Justices will have to make their own tea. If the Justices can do it, the Secretary General will also be able to do it, “he joked.

Before closing his speech, Jimly instructed all the rank and the file of Constitutional Court of the Republic of Indonesia to always improve and maintain the good and professional working rhythm, to create competition in the context of giving the best without leaving behind smart cooperation, as well as to constantly inherit the positive working system to new generations. “May God guide us in realizing high quality performance for the sake of the nation and the country,” said Jimly closing his speech.
